Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated on Tuesday that 10 individuals have died due to snowstorms sweeping across the country. Strong winds and snowstorms have been ongoing since Sunday, resulting in widespread power outages and road closures. Southern Ukraine has been the most affected, particularly the Odesa region on the Black Sea. Cars and buses have slid off icy roads into fields, and the police have struggled to tow them due to harsh winds. Klymenko wrote on Telegram, "10 people have died in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions due to severe weather conditions." He added, "23 people have been injured, including two children." He noted that power outages have affected 411 residential areas across 11 regions, and over 1,500 vehicles have been rescued. Oleg Kiper, the governor of the Odesa region, where five deaths occurred due to the weather, reported that nearly 2,500 residents were rescued after being trapped by snow. He posted on Telegram, "849 vehicles were towed, including 24 buses and 17 ambulances," adding that electricity was cut off in over 300 settlements in Odesa.
