New Decisions in the Case of the Child Sophie Machlab

The single criminal judge in Baabda, Nadine Najm, issued her decision in the case of the child Sophie Machlab. She convicted the neurologist at Saint George Hospital, Ghassan Hmeis, of the crime under Article 408 of the Penal Code (giving false testimony) and sentenced him to 4 months in prison, reducing the sentence to 2 months of imprisonment, and obliging him to pay compensation to the child's father, Fawzi Machlab, in the amount of one billion Lebanese pounds. Fawzi Machlab was represented in the case by lawyers Ayman Jazini and George Khoury.
