A study conducted by the "Novosti" agency indicated that the most expensive traditional dish for the New Year’s table will be prepared in Japan at a cost of $10.80, while the least expensive dish will be prepared in Hungary for $2.50.
The agency mentioned that there are two main dishes for New Year’s in Japan. One is buckwheat with shrimp, mushrooms, vegetables, or fish, symbolizing "the end of the year," which is consumed before the New Year begins and can be cooked or purchased for around $10.80.
On the first day of the New Year, the Japanese place a special set of snacks for the New Year on the table and purchase ready-made sets that can include between 20 to 73 types of dishes, costing from $70 to $200.
The cheapest traditional dish for the New Year’s table belongs to Hungary, where stuffed cabbage with pork, fat, and rice is prepared, costing only $2.50 per serving, in addition to traditional bread with poppy seeds or walnuts, which costs $9 for half a kilo.
In France, the main Christmas dish is turkey, costing $6.20 per serving. Additionally, goose liver is always present on the festive table, with a small jar costing about $35. Turkey is also a traditional dish in the United States, costing $2.90 per serving. In Russia, turkey will cost $2.70, while traditional Olivier salad costs $2.20, and red caviar costs $1.60.
