Arrest of Suspect in Jewelry Store Shooting

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced today, Friday, in a statement that "on April 23, 2024, in the Zouk Mikhael area, unknown individuals fired a military-grade pistol at the facade of a jewelry store, attempted to set it on fire, and fled to an unknown location. Eight cartridges from a military-grade pistol were seized at the scene. Immediately, the specialized units in the Information Branch commenced field and investigative procedures to uncover the circumstances of the incident, identify the involved parties, and apprehend them.

As a result of the follow-up, it was revealed that on April 22, 2024, the agent of the mentioned jewelry store filed a complaint against several individuals for assaulting the store, ejecting those inside, changing the locks, and throwing gasoline inside the store in an attempt to burn it, due to financial disputes.

As a result of extensive inquiries and investigations, the branch was able to identify all the suspects involved in the aforementioned operation, including a man identified as: A.M. (born in 1979, Lebanese).

On May 1, 2024, after careful observation and surveillance, one of the branch's patrols arrested him in the Keserwan area. Upon searching him, a military-grade pistol with a magazine and 15 live rounds, as well as a sum of money, were found in his possession. He was referred to the relevant authorities for legal action based on judicial orders, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects."
