Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received a Turkish electric car, "TOGG," as a gift from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his visit to the Kingdom. Erdoğan presented the white car to bin Salman after their bilateral meeting and discussions at the level of delegations at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
Erdoğan and bin Salman examined the car for a while in the palace courtyard. Social media users reacted to the moment when bin Salman took Erdoğan in the electric car gifted to him during the Turkish president's visit to the Kingdom on Monday evening. The Crown Prince accompanied the Turkish President as he left Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah for his residence, where Erdoğan presented two Turkish-made electric cars as gifts to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman drove the car with Erdoğan beside him, heading together from Al-Salam Palace to the Turkish President's residence. Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also expressed his admiration for the Turkish "TOGG" car gifted to him by Erdoğan.
Turkey announced the production of the "TOGG" car for the first time on October 29, 2022, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency. The starting price for the "T10X" model of the "TOGG," category "V1 RWD," is $50,000, while the standard range category "V2 RWD" costs $55,600, and the long-range version of the same model is priced around $64,000, as reported by the company last March.
The "T10X" car's battery can reach 80% of the required charge in just 28 minutes. Anadolu noted that the car features a driver assistance system in traffic jams, allowing the driver to remove their hands from the steering wheel while it operates at a maximum speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
