Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky traveled to the Kharkiv front today, Thursday, where he met with military leaders in the city, which was the second largest city in Ukraine by population. During his visit to Kharkiv, a province that has been under extensive Russian attack for about a week, the Ukrainian president confirmed that "the situation is extremely difficult" but "under control."
Zelensky stated in a Telegram post that "the situation in the Kharkiv region is generally under control, and our soldiers are inflicting heavy losses on the occupiers. However, the region remains very challenging," following his meeting with military leaders in the city of Kharkiv, located approximately 30 kilometers from the border with Russia.
Zelensky's visit to Kharkiv comes after reports of Ukrainian forces successfully halting the rapid advance of Russian troops in the border province. The Ukrainian military said its defensive measures have forced Russian forces to slow their attacks in northern Kharkiv today. It added that fighting continues in the northern part of the city of Vovchansk, located in Kharkiv, and that the situation is under control.
