Shoval Ben Gvir, son of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, attacked U.S. President Joe Biden, calling him "senile," before retracting his statement and apologizing alongside his father. Shoval posted on the platform "X" yesterday, Monday, a message that he later deleted: "In these difficult times, it is important to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, which is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and is the most common cause of cognitive decline and dementia in old age, a serious disease that undermines a person's performance and ability to function." He accompanied his tweet with a picture of President Biden.
Ben Gvir's son later retracted his tweet, replacing it with another that said: "Mr. President, my apologies."
Following this, Ben Gvir apologized to the U.S. President, stating on "X": "Shoval, my son, is my favorite, but he made a serious mistake in a tweet that I strongly disapprove of." He added, "The United States is our great friend, and President Biden is a friend of Israel. Even if I disagree with his behavior, there is no room, God forbid, for contemptuous manners." He continued: "Respect for humanity is first and foremost; this is how I raise my children. I apologize for my son's words."
Earlier, the Israeli Minister of National Security faced significant backlash after his comments about President Biden, stating, "Instead of giving us full support, Biden is busy providing humanitarian aid to Gaza. If Trump were president, U.S. actions would have been completely different," adding, "I believe the Biden administration is hindering the Israeli war effort."
