Lapid: Netanyahu Cannot Continue to Lead

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid emphasized that "no one in the world believes that Gaza should be handed over to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas" immediately after the war, and that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "deliberately inventing controversy." In a series of tweets posted on his account on the platform "X," Yair Lapid stated, "While our heroic children are being killed in Gaza, Netanyahu has invented this controversy... He has fought with the United States, fought with me, fought with Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot... Not a single person in the world says that Gaza should be handed over to Abu Mazen the day after the war... No one! He has fabricated this unworkable idea so he can say he will fight it with all his might... It is somewhat dangerous, if there is one person in Israel who can lose to a non-existent enemy, it is Netanyahu."

He continued, "I have discussed this matter with American leadership... with Europeans... with members of the state camp... with whoever you want... No one understands what he is talking about... No one believes this can happen in the near future... No one! They do not understand what he wants... with whom is he arguing exactly?"

Lapid added, "The answer is that Netanyahu is doing what he has done his entire life: inciting, lying, and generating hatred... and he is now doing it only in the midst of a bitter war, where soldiers are killed every day... and he has learned nothing from October 7; the catastrophe has not changed him, he is unable to acknowledge his sin... This man cannot continue to lead... He is extremely dangerous."
