Member of the Foreign Relations Committee in Parliament, Representative Amer Al-Fayez, acknowledged today, Monday, that the conflict between the Americans and armed factions in Iraq is out of control. Al-Fayez stated that "there is a reality recognized by neighboring regional capitals and even international ones that any chaos erupting in Baghdad will not remain within its borders and will spread to the rest of the region, with many examples to prove this. Iraq is a key center of stability in the Middle East, which is why Washington and Tehran are aware of this fact, as any destabilization will negatively impact their interests in Baghdad in all directions."
He added to Baghdad News that "the conflict between the armed factions and America stems from the tragic events in Gaza, and it is a decision that does not remain confined to Baghdad but extends to Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, widening with the developments of events." He pointed out that "the conflict is out of control, and an explosion is very likely, especially with the acceleration of events in Palestine and the fall of thousands of martyrs and wounded."
Al-Fayez also noted that "day by day, there is increasing conviction that the armed factions have local leadership, especially with their reliance on their own manufacturing efforts, and there is no evidence of a specific state supporting them based on what we see."
The U.S. military announced on the 22nd of last month that it conducted "precise strikes" on two sites in Iraq, in response to attacks launched by Iraqi factions against its forces and coalition forces. The increase in the frequency of attacks against U.S. forces in the Middle East is linked to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, which erupted after the Islamic movement carried out a surprise attack across the border from Gaza on October 7, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths, according to Israeli authorities.
