Palestinian media reported that intense clashes are taking place between Palestinian militants and Israeli forces in southeastern Gaza. Live footage from Gaza captured the sounds of ongoing Israeli bombardment and artillery fire in the area. The Palestinian Information Center indicated that heavy Israeli artillery fire targeted east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. It added that the Israeli army conducted airstrikes on the Al-Shati camp and the neighborhoods of Al-Nasr and Sheikh Radwan in Gaza.
The neighborhood of Tal al-Hawa in southwestern Gaza City is experiencing intensive and violent bombardment from Israeli aircraft and tanks. Reports indicate casualties and injuries, along with difficulties for ambulances to operate due to the continuous Israeli shelling. Palestinian media also reported intense Israeli bombardment on the Firooz Towers near the Al-Shati camp in northwestern Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent also reported violent shelling around Al-Quds Hospital in the Tal al-Hawa area of Gaza. It added that the explosions around the hospital did not stop for over two hours, causing panic among more than 14,000 displaced persons seeking refuge in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, stated on Thursday that they targeted an Israeli tank and bulldozer in northwestern Gaza using "Yasin 105" anti-tank missiles. The Al-Qassam Brigades did not provide further details in the statement published on their Telegram account.
Additionally, the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People reiterated its call for an immediate and ongoing humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza to halt the hostilities, following a resolution overwhelmingly supported by the General Assembly on October 27. In a statement issued on Wednesday evening, it said: "The relentless heavy Israeli bombardment of densely populated areas since October 7 and its recent ground incursion into northern Gaza has resulted in the deaths of around nine thousand Palestinians, mostly women and children. These indiscriminate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure constitute serious violations of international law and must stop immediately."
It also stated: "We call for the immediate and unconditional release of civilians illegally held, as per the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly." The committee expressed deep concern regarding "the escalation of tension and violence by settlers in the West Bank" and warned that such actions "will further destabilize the West Bank and lead to more violence."
