The Ministry of Finance announced that it transferred the salaries of all military personnel and employees, as well as the pensions of retirees, to the Central Bank of Lebanon. Additionally, the salaries of public hospital staff and railway workers were also transferred, so they can be disbursed to private banks, where the concerned individuals will receive them starting from Monday, July 31.
In a statement, the ministry pointed out that while disbursing the pensions for July 2023, it applied deductions related to state employees’ cooperative contributions concerning the financial increase and temporary compensation approved under the effective law number 10 dated November 15, 2022, and decree number 11227 dated September 18, 2023, for retirees subjected to it, covering the period from October 1, 2022, until July 2023. The ministry indicated that the deduction made represents the majority of the deductions, and the remaining balance will be deducted in nine monthly installments starting from August 1.
Furthermore, regarding the tax settlement for retirees for the year 2022, the ministry completed the necessary financial study to determine the amounts to be refunded to retirees, which will be disbursed starting from August 1.
In a separate matter related to salaries and pensions concerning health issues, the ministry announced that it has paid all amounts owed to the Ministry of Public Health for dialysis treatments and chronic diseases, totaling 728 billion Lebanese pounds. It emphasized that it prioritizes health-related issues and is fulfilling its duties in this regard.
