Israel approved the export of more natural gas from its offshore fields today, Wednesday. Partners in the massive Leviathan gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean announced plans to invest up to $500 million to expand the field's production capacity. The Israeli Ministry of Energy stated that it has "given the green light to export an additional 118 billion cubic meters of natural gas." Natural gas exports from Israel's Leviathan field to Egypt surged by 28% in 2023, and production at the field is scheduled to increase by late 2025, according to a report by Neomed Energy last March.
