After the success it has achieved in previous years, the Beirut International Women's Film Festival, organized by the Beirut Cinematic Society, will kick off its seventh edition under the slogan "Women for Leadership," sponsored by Minister of Information Ziad Makari, and in collaboration with Cedars Art Production Sabbah Brothers, in partnership with Casino Lebanon and Grand Cinemas, from April 14 to 19, 2024.
The festival will begin on April 14 with an opening ceremony held at Casino Lebanon, where the renowned Egyptian actress and prominent Arab artist Yousra will be the guest of honor, in recognition of her artistic achievements and her distinguished career in cinema and the arts. The festival will continue from April 15 to 19, showcasing more than 73 films, including a diverse selection of short and feature films, narrative, documentary, animated, and experimental films, as well as dance films from 35 different countries, at the Grand Cinemas in ABC Mall in Dbayeh. It will also feature seminars and discussion panels. The festival will conclude on April 19 with an awards ceremony, where the awards will be chosen by a jury consisting of 18 members of prominent filmmakers, actors, and artists, distributed across specialized committees for each category of films presented.
This event attracts a distinguished group of cinema and art pioneers to celebrate the excellence and creativity of women in cinema. It plays a pivotal role in promoting the role of women in the film industry and honoring their distinguished contributions, highlighting women's leadership and pioneering roles in society.
It is noteworthy that the Beirut Cinematic Society is an active organization focused on enhancing and disseminating Lebanese culture through film production and artistic works, both nationally and locally. Its activities include organizing festivals in Lebanon and in various countries, including Canada, Latin America, and the Arab world, in addition to its partnership with the Ministry of Tourism to launch the Lebanon Cinema City project, initiated by Minister of Tourism Walid Nassar, which aims to attract local and international productions. This partnership is part of the Beirut Cinematic Society's vision of "Film Friendly Lebanon" and contributes to enhancing an economy based on the cultural sector and film-based tourism.
