Interior and Municipalities Minister Bassam Molawi stated that "the five-member committee, along with all the brotherly and friendly Arab states, is assisting Lebanon in electing a president of the republic, relying on confidentiality to ensure its success (and seek to fulfill your needs with confidentiality)."
Minister Molawi met with the Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, in Doha, in the presence of the Head of the Administrative and Financial Committee of the Higher Islamic Sharia Council, Mohammed Makawi, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zakat Fund in Lebanon, Mohammed Jouzou.
After the meeting, Molawi said, "Our presence, alongside His Eminence in Qatar and some Lebanese officials, is to serve Lebanon and carry its case to the brother state of Qatar and all the brotherly Gulf states. We carry the concerns of our people and institutions, hoping that our role will have a positive impact on the interests of Lebanon and its institutions. We are working for the benefit of the Internal Security Forces and all the directorates affiliated with the Ministry of Interior that strive for good and want it to return to the Lebanese people."
He continued, "We thank the State of Qatar for its invitation and hospitality, as well as the support of the Qatari leadership and all Gulf leaders for standing by Lebanon to help it overcome the crises it is experiencing and to get through them safely. From here, we tell the Lebanese people to hold on to Lebanon and maintain their love for it, just like their brothers and siblings in the Gulf Arab states."
When asked, "Do you not notice that the five-member committee is quietly working to assist Lebanon in electing a president?" he answered, "The five-member committee, like all brotherly and friendly Arab states, is assisting Lebanon in electing a president of the republic, relying on confidentiality to ensure its success (and seek to fulfill your needs with confidentiality)."
In response to a question about "the fear of Lebanese people regarding the expansion of the Israeli enemy's war against Lebanon, and whether he has any information on this matter," Molawi said, "We assure the Lebanese that the Lebanese government, President Najib Mikati, and all responsible and dedicated individuals are doing what is necessary, making every effort to avoid the flames of war and keeping its bitter cup away from the Lebanese people and from Lebanon, which cannot bear this war and its consequences. We ask God Almighty to protect Lebanon and its people."
When asked, "Do you think that the Lebanese Ministry of Interior is on par with the Arab interior ministries?" he responded, "Comparing the Lebanese Ministry of Interior and its security forces with Arab interior ministries in these difficult circumstances, despite its limited capabilities, they continue to deliver the required services and bear their responsibilities. Based on that, the Lebanese Ministry of Interior is considered a pioneer in this field."
In closing, he stated, "Lebanon has surpassed the phase of sedition despite unsuccessful attempts to ignite it. The Lebanese have learned from past experiences, especially from the civil war, and have managed to overcome it with faith and success. They will remain united despite all the difficult circumstances they face."
