"YASA" called on the relevant authorities and civil society to take more urgent steps to cover and secure these openings properly to prevent more victims. The association pointed out that it had previously submitted reports to the public prosecutor, demanding punishment for thieves who steal sewer covers and water channel lids. The random theft of these covers is not only illegal but also poses a risk to people's safety, particularly pedestrians and children. Therefore, YASA reiterates its call for the competent authorities to tighten legal measures against thieves and enhance monitoring to provide a safe environment for everyone on the roads.
