Egypt Declared Free of African Horse Sickness

The World Organization for Animal Health officially announced today, Friday, that Egypt is free from African horse sickness, during the 91st General Assembly of the World Organization for Animal Health members. According to the electronic portal "Al-Ahram," the Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Mr. El-Sayed El-Qusair, stated that the declaration of Egypt being free from the disease was reached by unanimous agreement following a vote on the technical file submitted by the General Authority for Veterinary Services to confirm the country's disease-free status.

According to the Egyptian minister, this declaration marks a steady step for Egypt towards progress and development based on scientific foundations, reaffirming its historical and leading role at the global level. The Egyptian Minister of Agriculture explained that this announcement aligns with Egypt's strategy to reach new horizons in supporting the export of Egyptian horses, particularly the purebred Arabian horses, which are considered among the finest horse breeds globally. It is noteworthy that in April, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi visited the miniature museum of the Egyptian Arabian horse in the Olympic Games City, which contains lineage certificates for a large number of purebred Egyptian horses.
