At least 27 people have been reported dead in Pakistan following a passenger bus falling into a ravine on a mountainous highway in Balochistan province. The accident occurred at dawn in the town of Pasmā while the bus was traveling from Turbat to Quetta. Local government official, Ismail Mengal, stated that "the driver was navigating a turn in a mountainous area when he lost control and the bus plunged into a ravine," adding that the death toll reached 27, with more than 25 others injured, including the driver.
The chief doctor at the Pasmā civil hospital, Noorullah, noted that 27 bodies were transported there, including three women and two children. The office of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif released a statement expressing the Prime Minister's "deep sorrow over the tragic traffic accident." The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, with indications that the driver may have fallen asleep or was speeding, leading to the accident.
