A armed dispute erupted on Monday evening between relatives. An Iraqi security source reported that a disagreement among relatives, the reasons for which remain unknown, escalated to the use of light firearms in the Mahawil district of Babil province. The dispute resulted in the death of one party, who was a Popular Mobilization Forces leader, Ali Al-Mamouri. A security force arrived at the scene and imposed security measures.
Later, the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the incident was criminal, according to a statement. The statement pointed out that "what occurred was not an assassination but a criminal incident due to a family dispute inside the victim's home involving three relatives (the victim's brother and his two brothers-in-law)." It was noted that "the perpetrators were arrested, and legal proceedings were initiated against them, and they openly confessed to the incident."
