Kamala Harris: Israeli Strikes on Refugee Camp in Rafah "Tragic"

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris condemned the Israeli bombardment of Rafah, stating that the term "tragic" is the least that can be said to describe the Israeli airstrikes that led to a fire in a camp in Rafah city, Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 45 Palestinians. Harris made these comments outside one of the events in Washington, responding to a journalist's question about the airstrike that occurred on Sunday evening. The United States also expressed "deep sorrow" over the deaths of Palestinians in the Israeli strike on Sunday in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip, and affirmed that it is awaiting the results of the Israeli military's investigation, calling for it to be "swift and transparent." State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters: "We will closely monitor the results of this investigation," emphasizing that the United States will continue to "insist on Israel's commitment to fully comply with international humanitarian law, reduce the impact of its operations on civilians, and increase the flow of humanitarian aid to those in need."
