A WhatsApp user has revealed a simple trick to enhance the quality of images sent on the messaging app. The tech-savvy user uploaded a video on TikTok under the username @.lachief, demonstrating how to make the most out of multimedia messages on the platform.
When images are saved and sent on the platform, the app compresses the file to facilitate sending, sacrificing image quality for speed. Even if a video or photo is captured in 4K resolution, the file will still be compressed to a smaller size.
#### How to Change Image Quality
To ensure the preservation of file quality and achieve the best image quality, users need to delve into the settings section of the platform. To access the settings, click the settings button in the bottom right corner of the app.
Once inside, tap on "Storage and Data," then scroll down the page. At the bottom, you'll find “Media upload quality” with three options. If you have never changed the quality before, it should be set to "Automatic (recommended)." However, there are two other options to choose from: "Data saver" and "Best quality."
Clicking on the latter will ensure that files are not compressed and are sent at the highest quality. However, this may consume more data and take longer to send. If you are concerned about data usage, it is best to wait until you are connected to a Wi-Fi router to send high-quality images. Once you select that option, the images will be sent as larger file sizes but will maintain their quality.
