The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that Gaza is witnessing an unprecedented health disaster globally, "due to the continuous Israeli occupation aggression for the past seven months," according to the "Wafa" agency. The ministry called in a statement issued today, Saturday, for "the international community and international health and humanitarian organizations to intensify pressure on the occupying authorities to stop the aggression and save the lives of millions of citizens who have been displaced from their homes, fleeing from death and deliberate Israeli targeting."
The health ministry warned of a potential "genocide" if the occupation carries out its aggressive threats to invade Rafah Governorate, where more than one million and two hundred thousand citizens have sought refuge from shelling. Only three hospitals are partially operational in the area, which is suffering from a lack of public health, water, food, and health prevention measures.
The ministry confirmed that "Israeli occupation forces deliberately target treatment centers, emergency responders, and patients on a daily basis, as the Israeli war machine has targeted 155 health facilities, leading to the shutdown of 32 hospitals and 53 health centers, and the destruction of 130 ambulances, which constitutes the entirety of the health system that was providing medical services to our people."
The ministry added, "The Israeli occupation's aggression has led to the collapse of the health system in the sector, depriving patients and the wounded of necessary treatment, resulting in the death of many due to a lack of equipment, medicines, medical supplies, food, and the limited number of medical staff, coupled with the spread of diseases and restrictions on treatment outside the sector."
