Majid Al-Mohandis: I Was Bullied a Lot for My Voice

The beloved Iraqi artist Majid Al-Mohandis did not expect his audience to hear shocking details about the bullying he faced in the early stages of his career. During his recent appearance on the "Big Time" podcast with journalist Amr Adib on MBC, he revealed that he experienced bullying at the beginning, which continued throughout his artistic journey. He added that his friends used to tell him in school not to sing because of the unpleasantness of his voice, as they claimed, and many radio stations rejected his applications on grounds of incompetence. He said, "Many people didn't like my voice when I was young, and this stemmed from jealousy and hatred. I remember in school when I sang, those behind me would laugh, and even when I grew up, I applied to radio and television programs and was rejected." He also clarified that prominent composers mocked his voice and that he was rejected in auditions at Iraqi radio and television, revealing that he was even expelled by a well-known composer. He continued, "In high school, I applied to many programs, but they kept rejecting me. I don't know if this is bullying, jealousy, or purely a technical matter."
