After the Prince's Death... The Crown Prince Assumes Power in Kuwait

After the death of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, attention turned to Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who will assume power in the State of Kuwait. So, who is the Crown Prince? Here is a brief overview of him, according to the official website of the Crown Prince's Diwan.

Sheikh Mishal assumed the position of Crown Prince on October 8, 2020, following a high recommendation by the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and the endorsement of the National Assembly. Born in 1940, Sheikh Mishal grew up in a ruling family, being the seventh son of former Emir Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the brother of three rulers: Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He is married and has five sons and seven daughters.

He received his education at Al-Mubarakiyah School, the first formal school in Kuwait, and later enrolled at Hendon Police College in the United Kingdom, graduating in 1960. Following his graduation, he worked in the Ministry of Interior and rose through the ranks until becoming the head of the General Investigations Department in 1967 with the rank of Colonel. He held that position until 1980 when it transformed into the "State Security Agency," which still bears that name today. He was appointed by Decree No. (12/2004) issued on April 13, 2004, as the Deputy Prime Minister of the National Guard with the rank of Minister until he assumed the position of Crown Prince.
