Sixteen people have died in a fire at a shopping mall in southwest China, today Thursday, according to a new toll reported by the official Chinese news agency, citing local rescue officials. The fire broke out in the evening in the city of Zigong in Sichuan Province, located 1,600 kilometers from the capital, Beijing. Emergency services in Zigong stated in a report that firefighters are doing their utmost to control the situation and urged residents not to believe or amplify rumors.
