Arrest of One of the Most Dangerous Leaders of Theft Gangs in Sabra

In the context of the follow-up carried out by the Internal Security Forces to reduce various crimes across all Lebanese regions, and after several armed robbery incidents occurred recently, particularly involving the theft of motorcycles, which included gunfire directed at victims or in the air during these operations in many areas of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, the Information Branch managed, as a result of its ongoing investigation into this issue, to arrest several interconnected gangs executing this type of crime.

Through investigations with the detainees and gathering intelligence information, it became clear that the mastermind of these gangs is named S.K. (born in 2000, currently studying) who has prior criminal records related to assault and is considered a dangerous individual who is continuously armed. Consequently, orders were issued to intensify inquiries and investigations to determine his location and arrest him.

On January 8, 2024, through precise tracking, the specialized units of the branch pinpointed his location in the Sabra area, where they carried out a swift operation that led to his arrest, despite his attempts to flee and resist the officers who managed to control him and restrain him.

During the investigation, he confessed that approximately a year and a half ago, he began executing theft operations through breaking and entering, in collaboration with others, specifically from "Express Cafés" in the regions of Jounieh, Metn, Naemeh, and Khaldeh, reaching around Sidon, using a silver Honda CRV, and selling the stolen goods. He continued his criminal activities, in collaboration with several gangs, in the field of motorcycle theft, having stolen more than 100 motorcycles of various types. Additionally, he admitted to committing robbery against citizens in the regions of Khaldeh, Saadiyat, Jiyeh, Costa Brava, Al-Assad Highway / Airport Road, Central Beirut (the waterfront area), Martyrs' Square, Ashrafieh, Dora, Dhour al-Choueir, and the vicinity of the Dog River. They roamed around as an organized gang on more than five motorcycles, approaching the targeted motorcycle or individual, and threatening them by brandishing firearms before robbing them.

He also stated that he had fired gunshots into the air several times while carrying out thefts and admitted to using drugs. Therefore, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces is circulating the photo of the detainee, based on the instructions of the competent judiciary, and requests that anyone who fell victim to his actions and recognized him should go to the Mountain Region Information Branch, located in the Bashar Bridge area, or contact the number 513732-01 in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures.
