A team of surgeons at Dubai Hospital, part of Dubai Health, successfully performed the removal of the world's largest adrenal tumor from a patient in her sixties. This medical achievement reflects Dubai's status as a leading global destination for medical services and healthcare, demonstrating the advanced specialized services offered within the multidisciplinary surgical hospital and embodying Dubai Health's commitment to the motto "Patient First."
The operation was carried out after a 69-year-old patient, who had been experiencing difficulties in walking and breathing, was transferred to the emergency unit at Dubai Hospital following the discovery of a massive abdominal mass during examination. This urgency necessitated immediate primary healthcare, leading to the surgical procedure to remove the mass performed by a multidisciplinary medical team, including specialists in urology, oncology, interventional radiology, as well as vascular and general surgeons, and anesthesia experts.
Following the plan devised by the medical team at Dubai Hospital, the surgical operation lasted approximately four hours and resulted in the removal of a large tumor measuring "27 cm × 26 cm" and weighing 9.435 kilograms.
