Guterres: Lebanon Cannot Become Another Gaza

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed concern today, Friday, regarding the escalation of tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, adding that "UN peacekeeping forces are working to calm the situation and prevent miscalculations." He said to reporters, "One reckless step or one miscalculation could lead to a catastrophe that far exceeds borders and, frankly, surpasses imagination." He emphasized, "Let us be clear: the people of the region and the peoples of the world cannot afford for Lebanon to become another Gaza." Guterres pointed out that "Russia must adhere to UN sanctions on North Korea," following an agreement between the two countries that includes a commitment to mutual defense. He clarified that "there are sanctions approved by the Security Council concerning North Korea... Any relationship any country has with North Korea, including the Russian Federation, must be based on full compliance with those sanctions."
