New Plan to Overthrow Terror Networks in Iraq

The Anti-Terrorism Agency in Iraq announced today, Thursday, the "preparation of a training plan for new personnel in the agency." They confirmed that their technical, operational, and logistical capabilities are at a very high level, revealing the arrest of 32 terrorists in operations conducted in coordination with the Kurdistan Region.

The agency's spokesperson, Sabah al-Nauman, stated that "the technical, operational, and logistical capabilities of the agency are at very high levels, thus there are no challenges or difficulties facing the work of the Anti-Terrorism Agency, especially given the weakened capabilities of terrorist gangs, which has helped the agency achieve successful security operations over the past year."

Al-Nauman added that "after Major General Karim al-Tamimi assumed the position of head of the Anti-Terrorism Agency, he had a vision for the upcoming period to enhance the agency's armament capabilities and improve the level of training, especially after the recent addition of approximately 3,000 new personnel due to the job grades released in the past period." He confirmed that "a training plan for new personnel has been developed to improve their combat capabilities and qualify them to be part of the Anti-Terrorism Agency and join its combat units."

He pointed out that "the agency operates based on a clear vision, which involves a precise analysis of the operational information environment and an assessment of the capabilities of terrorist gangs." He noted that "the fundamental work of the Anti-Terrorism Agency depends on intelligence information and translating it into plans implemented in various operational sectors and the areas where remnants of terrorist gangs are located."

He revealed that "the number of operations carried out by the Anti-Terrorism Agency in 2023 reached 249 operations, most of which were proactive and qualitative, resulting in the arrest of 139 terrorists and the killing of 51 terrorists of various leadership levels." He added, "There was also coordination with the Kurdistan Region for about 31 operations, leading to the arrest of 32 terrorists in different areas of the region."
