Dubai has secured the third position globally in mobile internet speeds as of April 2024. According to the list of the fastest cities worldwide in the "speedtest" index, which measures internet service speeds, Dubai recorded a speed of 327 Mbps, with Abu Dhabi coming in fourth globally at a speed of 295 Mbps.
The two emirates have surpassed numerous international cities in mobile internet speeds, with Riyadh ranking fifth at 279.6 Mbps, Porto at 276 Mbps, and Kuwait at 268 Mbps. Local market operators are actively enhancing their efforts to develop the infrastructure of service networks to improve quality and accommodate the evident developments in communication, thereby encouraging consumers to expand their use of advanced services, both mobile and fixed.
Furthermore, Abu Dhabi ranked second globally in fixed internet service speeds at the end of April, with data showing that local operators achieved an average speed of 300 Mbps. Following Abu Dhabi were Lyon, France, at 291.5 Mbps, Shanghai at 287.8 Mbps, and Beijing at 281 Mbps. Abu Dhabi has maintained a significant quality and speed advantage compared to many other active business locations with advanced telecommunications infrastructure, such as New York, which recorded a speed of 266.6 Mbps, Zurich at 257.5 Mbps, Bangkok at an average speed of 248 Mbps, and Geneva at 247 Mbps.
