Quality Operation by the Information Branch at the Airport Road

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Friday, stating: "On 22-09-2023, in the Haret Hreik area, two unknown individuals fired a weapon at the person known as N.A.J. (born in 1997, Lebanese) who works in currency exchange, injuring him in his right foot. They then stole 1.9 billion Lebanese pounds from him and fled to an unknown location on a motorcycle. The injured party was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Immediately, the relevant units in the Information Branch were assigned to carry out their procedures in the vicinity of the incident to uncover its details and the identities of those involved. As a result of intense investigations and inquiries, the branch identified the shooter and his accomplice, who were identified as A.F. (born in 1989, Lebanese) who went into hiding in the Burj al-Barajneh camp after executing the operation, and M.A.R. (born in 2002, Syrian).

On 24-11-2023, after surveillance and monitoring, the special forces of the branch managed to arrest them in a simultaneous operation in the Airport Road area. Upon interrogation, they confessed to the charges of shooting at N.A.J. and stealing the aforementioned amount, after misleading the victim by claiming they wanted to exchange 20,000 euros.

They also added that they had previously collaborated with others (who are still being pursued for arrest) to execute multiple robbery attempts on currency exchange shops, all of which failed. Additionally, they were involved in distributing counterfeit currency and confessed to drug abuse. The necessary legal action was taken against them, and they were referred to the relevant authority based on judicial instructions."

A quality and simultaneous operation by the Information Branch in the Airport Road area resulted in the arrest of the perpetrators who carried out the armed robbery of approximately 2 billion Lebanese pounds in Haret Hreik. #ISF #SecurityIsTrust— Internal Security Forces (@LebISF) December 8, 2023
