The Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and ways to increase the flow of relief aid unobstructedly, during a phone call with the United Nations Senior Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sigreed Kaag.
The UAE Foreign Minister reviewed with Kaag the developments of the maritime corridor initiative to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, highlighting its important role in providing a sustainable humanitarian response for the Palestinian people.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also addressed the current developments in the region and the regional and international efforts to reach a sustainable ceasefire that would help protect the lives of all civilians and enhance humanitarian support for the residents of the strip.
During the phone call, he reaffirmed the UAE's full support for the efforts of the United Nations Senior Coordinators for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza to ensure sufficient and unobstructed humanitarian assistance reaches civilians in the area.
He emphasized the importance of the UN's role in partnership with active international community members to end extremism, tension, and violence in the region while providing protection for all civilians and securing urgent and necessary humanitarian relief for the Palestinian people to alleviate their suffering.
He also confirmed the UAE's commitment to cooperating with Sigreed Kaag and all countries and active parties in the maritime corridor initiative, aimed at providing a sustainable channel for delivering humanitarian aid to northern Gaza.
