British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak stated today, Friday, that "Britain, in coordination with the United States, carried out a number of strikes yesterday, Thursday, against military targets belonging to the Houthis in Yemen." Sunak emphasized that "the Royal Air Force's strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen were conducted in self-defense due to the ongoing threat posed by the Houthis." This marks the fifth time Britain has launched joint strikes with the United States against targets in Yemen. Yemeni media reported an increase in the death toll from the American and British strikes in Al Hudaydah province to 16 dead and 35 injured due to the attacks. The British Army had announced that it carried out a "joint operation" with U.S. forces late Thursday into Friday, which included strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen aimed at "undermining their military capabilities."
