The Attorney General of Mount Lebanon, Judge Ghada Aoun, accompanied by public prosecutors Rami Abdallah and Raed Abu Shakra, visited Roumieh Prison to assess the conditions of the inmates. Following the visit, they issued a statement that said: "It has been found that there are several legal issues and others related to the court that hinder the course of justice that need to be addressed."
The statement further added: "Judges Abdallah and Abu Shakra inspected the inmates' cells. Judge Aoun received some of them who presented their issues. It is essential to commend the security forces for maintaining order and ensuring electricity and cleanliness, especially in the kitchen. It is noteworthy that there is a courtroom inside the prison that has been constructed according to the latest technologies, and its use will significantly resolve court-related issues and save costs for the state, in addition to ensuring safety for both litigants and detainees."
The statement concluded: "Regarding the topic of rehabilitation, the greatest obstacle is the current criminal record system, which necessitates serious efforts to resolve this issue, assisting in preventing convicts from re-engaging in crime and avoiding recidivism."
