Authorities in the state of Texas announced that four people were attacked by sharks while swimming off the Texas coast. They added that four individuals encountered a shark while entering the water off South Padre Island during the Independence Day holiday. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department stated in a statement: "Details at this time indicate that two people were bitten, and two others encountered a shark but were not seriously injured."
