Baisri at the Annual Iftar of the General Security: We Mustn’t Waste Opportunities to Build Internal Accord

The Acting Director General of General Security, Major General Elias Baisri, stated that "we must not waste any more opportunities to build our internal accord. Every day that passes without consensus and fortifying the Lebanese structure through the completion of constitutional entitlements is a loss for Lebanon and increases the dangers surrounding it."

Baisri held the annual iftar ceremony on the occasion of Ramadan, the festive holidays, and Mother's Day, attended by senior officers and their families. In his speech, Major General Baisri emphasized, "We cannot gather at the iftar table without having in our conscience and hearts the memory of our southern families who were displaced from their homes due to Israeli aggression," underscoring the importance of "consistent functioning of constitutional institutions, which facilitates finding solutions to all thorny issues, foremost among them the Syrian displacement, and that there can be no definitive solutions to all files without a collective national will that strengthens the Lebanese position."

He pointed out that "Lebanon is at the heart of a region witnessing rapid transformations, and we must not waste any more opportunities to build our internal accord. Every day that passes without consensus and fortifying the Lebanese structure through the completion of constitutional entitlements is a loss for Lebanon and increases the dangers surrounding it."

On the level of the General Directorate of General Security, Baisri affirmed, "We are committed to protecting this venerable institution, which is an essential part of the state's institutions, against the smear campaigns, distortion, slander, and intimidation it faces. We will continue to bear responsibility based on our authority, in accordance with the law and applicable regulations, and we will move forward without looking back or deviating from this path."
