Release of 5 Iraqis Detained in Libya

The Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced on Monday the release of five Iraqis detained in Libya for reasons related to illegal immigration. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement that the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli succeeded, after high-level coordination with the Ministry of Interior - Department for Combating Illegal Immigration in Libya, in securing the release of these five Iraqi citizens who were held for reasons associated with illegal immigration. This reflects on the security and safety of Iraqi citizens who fall victim to trafficking and smuggling networks. The statement added that the Iraqi embassy in Tripoli has intensified its efforts in conjunction with its reopening after nearly a decade, to enhance follow-up effectiveness and address key issues that strengthen the presence of Iraqi diplomacy and elevate its status in bilateral relations, as well as in providing services and facilitating follow-up with the Iraqi community residing in Libya.
