Reading Penalized with Point Deduction for Tax Payment Delays

The club "Reading," belonging to the English Football League's third division, announced on Tuesday that an independent disciplinary committee has penalized it with another two-point deduction due to continued delays in tax payments. One point was deducted from the club in August, and three points in September after owner Dai Yong failed to deposit sufficient funds to cover wages. Following the recent point deduction, Reading now sits in 19th place in the third division, three points clear of the relegation zone. The English Football League overseeing the third division stated that Dai "has shown a lack of willingness to support the club's current financial obligations" and urged him to expedite efforts to sell his majority stake in the club. The club also mentioned that Dai has been fined £100,000 ($127,000) and must pay it within 21 days or risk further penalties.
