The Russian Ministry of Defense reported today, Saturday, that "a military correspondent for the Russian news agency was killed (named Rostislav Goravliv) and three other Russian journalists were wounded as a result of shelling near the frontline in the Zaporozhye region of southeastern Ukraine." The ministry stated, "Ukraine launched an artillery attack on the journalists using cluster munitions," noting that "the condition of the three other journalists is stable and they are receiving all necessary medical care." The Russian news agency confirmed in a report that its correspondent "was killed while covering events in the village of Pyatikatki on the frontline," and that one of its photographers was also injured. The spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, condemned what she described as "criminal terrorism" by Ukraine and claimed, without providing evidence, that the attack appeared to be intentional. She added, "Those responsible for this brutal revenge against a Russian journalist will inevitably suffer the punishment they deserve. Those who provided the cluster munitions to Kyiv are also responsible."
