Complaints Against "Meta" in 11 European Countries... and the Reason!

Complaints Against

The tech giant "Meta" is facing complaints in 11 European countries due to an "illegal" project involving the use of personal data from its users for an artificial intelligence program. A non-governmental organization opposed to the practices of tech giants, based in Vienna, has called for authorities to intervene "urgently" to prevent the implementation of this new privacy policy, which is set to take effect on June 26.

While some public data is already being used to train generative AI models, Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, seeks to go further and "completely seize" all data from the billions of users collected since 2007, according to the organization "Noyb". According to the organization's statement, the goal is to use the data as part of "experimental AI technology without any limits."

The statement quoted the founder of the NGO, Max Schrems, as saying, "They are basically saying they can use any data from any source for any purpose and make it available to anyone in the world." He questioned whether the data would be used to develop a "simple chatbot, intrusive personal ads, or even killer drones."
