A shocking incident shook the Egyptian community on Tuesday, as 11 children suffered from suffocation inside a swimming pool at the "Mit Rumi" Youth Center in the city of "Dekernes," located in the Dakahlia Governorate. The security point at Dekernes General Hospital notified the security authorities in Dakahlia about the arrival of 11 children experiencing breathing difficulties while at the swimming pool, all under the age of 12.
This prompted the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports in Dakahlia, Mona Osman, to take immediate action. She decided to form a committee to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident and suspended the operations manager and the swimming pool director, referring them for investigation.
Additionally, a source familiar with the "Mit Rumi" Youth Center told Al Arabiya.net that the incident was unrelated to the center. The source explained that a private club had rented the facility for a fee paid to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. It was noted that the incident occurred during the pool's cleaning process, which caused the children's injuries; however, there were no serious cases reported, and all evacuated from the hospital.
