On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the October victories and the October Liberation War, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, sent a congratulatory telegram to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi. The telegram stated: "On the occasion of the October victories, in which Egypt and its valiant army forged a brilliant legend in its history and that of our Arab nation by crossing from one 'bank' to another towards liberation and the restoration of rights, I am pleased on this glorious occasion, on behalf of the Lebanese people, my personal behalf, and on behalf of the Parliament, to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to you, the Egyptian Armed Forces, and the Egyptian people, asking God Almighty to grant you and Egypt, both army and people, abundant health, security, stability, strength, and capability."
For the same purpose, the Speaker sent a telegram to Syrian President Bashar Assad, which read: "I am pleased on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the glorious October Liberation War to extend my highest congratulations and best wishes to you, the leadership, officers, and members of the valiant Syrian Arab Army, and to the Syrian people. We take this opportunity to express our confidence that those who created the epic of victory in October and inscribed the epics of heroism and sacrifice for the liberation of the land and restoration of rights from the filth of the Israeli occupation will continue to do so now in facing the war being waged against Syria, both in the form of Zionist aggression and Takfiri terrorism, alongside inhumane blockades, are certainly capable of continuously birthing from the 'October' school of liberation a new victory for Syria and the nation."
On another note, Berri received the Greek Ambassador to Lebanon, Catherine Fontoulaki, at the second presidential palace in Ain al-Tineh, where they discussed general conditions and bilateral relations between the two countries.
