The Secrets of al-Baghdadi's Captives... An Online Slave Market

A series of exclusive interviews conducted by Al Arabiya with the wives of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and his daughter has sparked various reactions, including outrage from Yazidi survivors who were captives of al-Baghdadi and some leaders of the organization. This anger stems from the denial by al-Baghdadi's women regarding the torture of captives, claiming they were treated kindly. In the second part of this interview series, Yazidi survivors discussed the inner workings of ISIS and revealed secrets about the home of leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, focusing on the harsh treatment they received from his wife.

How did ISIS recruit children?

Adiba Murad, one of the Yazidi survivors, detailed her abduction while pregnant and her transfer to the Raqqa area in Syria. She highlighted that the treatment by the wives of the organization’s leaders was harsher than that of the men. Adiba recounted her experience of being offered for sale.

Adiba also spoke of how ISIS militants exploited children and the methods they used for recruitment.

The most perverse hobbies of ISIS

Another survivor, Rusita Haji, recounted to Al Arabiya the true reasons behind her captivity, detailing her suffering from torture at the hands of the organization, as well as her childhood rape. Haji shared the agony of captives from the violence of female ISIS members, which escalated to threats of murder and imprisonment in rooms infested with insects. Rusita revealed one of the most depraved hobbies of ISIS members: selling Yazidi captives.

An online slave market

In the final part of the interview, Sarab Isa, another Yazidi survivor, disclosed that ISIS members used applications like "WhatsApp" to trade captives among themselves, creating something akin to an online slave market. Sarab discussed the organization’s ambitions of world domination and their determination to continue fighting until the last breath.
