A press report on Tuesday stated that "Israel is seeking to obtain Starlink satellite internet services for use in the event of a potential full-scale war with Hezbollah." Starlink is a subsidiary of SpaceX, owned by billionaire Elon Musk. Israel may be looking to benefit from its services to maintain internet connectivity that might be disrupted due to power outages in Israel if war breaks out. The daily newspaper "Calcalist" reported that the finance and communications ministries are working to utilize 5,000 low-orbit satellites from Starlink to ensure a stable flow of data and information for government authorities during emergencies. Communications Minister Shlomi Karhi had granted permission for Starlink to operate in Israel and Gaza in February.
