Security Forces Arrest Thief in Al-Bahsass and Search for Accomplice

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement today, Monday, stating: "On the morning of 12-08-2023, in the Al-Bahsass area, citizens: - A.T. (born in 1982) and - A.A. (born in 1983) were victims of a robbery where their golden "Renault" car was stolen by two unknown individuals. The suspects picked them up under the pretense of giving them a ride to the Tripoli stadium, but then brandished a firearm towards (A.T.) and (A.A.), striking the latter on the head with the butt of the gun. They stole money, a mobile phone, identity papers, and documents from them, then fired two shots inside the car and forced them to get out before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle."

Immediately, the internal security forces began field and intelligence operations to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. "As a result of inquiries and investigations, the Information Branch was able to quickly determine their identities, including a suspect named: A.M. (born in 1968, Lebanese)."

On the same day, after careful monitoring, a "sting operation was set up for the aforementioned suspect in the Tabbaneh area, resulting in his arrest while in the stolen vehicle. A firearm (used in the robbery) and money, along with the stolen papers and documents were seized from him."

During the investigation, he confessed to participating with another individual in carrying out the robbery using force. The car and the documents were handed over to the rightful owner. Legal action was taken against the arrested individual, and he, along with the confiscated items, was referred to the relevant authorities as per the instructions of the competent judiciary. The search continues to apprehend his accomplice.
