Trump Surpasses Fundraising Efforts, Doubling What Biden Raised

The campaign of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump announced that it raised a massive amount of $50.5 million at an exclusive fundraising dinner with a number of billionaires in Florida on Saturday. This comes as the former president seeks to gather the necessary funds to compete again against Democratic President Joe Biden. This is the largest amount Trump has raised in his campaign to date, representing a much-needed boost due to his struggles against Biden in fundraising efforts.

Additionally, it comes amid financial difficulties due to rising legal fees and payments related to Trump's criminal and civil cases. A portion of the funds will be allocated to a fundraising group that has spent tens of millions of dollars on Trump’s legal procedures. Trump, in comments before the fundraising event with his wife Melania, who has largely stayed away from the campaign so far, stated, "People just want change. The rich want it, and the poor do too."

The Trump camp confirmed that the amount raised is double what Biden collected last month at a star-studded fundraising evening, attended by former Democratic Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, which raised about $25 million.
