Kremlin: Establishing a Buffer Zone in Ukraine Requires Time

The Kremlin stated on Wednesday that "the Russian army is still working on establishing a buffer zone in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine, but it will take time." In this context, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia would respond if Britain allows Ukraine to strike at Russia using British weapons. Bloomberg reported that newly elected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer indicated that Ukraine could use British Storm Shadow missiles to target military objectives within Russia. Peskov stated that this would be a reckless escalation. Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned in May that Russia is working on creating such a zone to protect its border areas from Ukrainian attacks.
