The US military announced that it intercepted two Russian military aircraft and two Chinese aircraft operating in the air defense identification zone off Alaska, although they remained in international airspace. The North American Aerospace Defense Command stated in a statement, "The Russian and Chinese aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace."
