Attack on Police Patrol in Russia Results in Deaths and Injury

A shooting incident targeting a police patrol unit in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic of Russia has resulted in the deaths of two police officers and injuries to a third. The press service of the regional investigative office reported, as conveyed by the TASS agency, that "according to investigations conducted this morning, April 22, an unidentified individual attacked the police unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia while they were on duty, resulting in two fatalities from their injuries, and the third victim has been hospitalized for treatment." The assailant fired several shots at the police officers and stole their service weapons and ammunition. A criminal case has been initiated under the first paragraph of Article 317 of the Russian Criminal Code for assaulting the lives of law enforcement officers, illegal possession and storage of weapons and ammunition, and theft of firearms and ammunition.
