The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, stated that U.S. President Joe Biden insults the entire Russian people with his attacks on Russian President Vladimir Putin, describing this as unacceptable behavior for a president, according to Russian media.
On Saturday, the American president made another offensive remark against Putin while speaking to graduates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in New York, labeling him a "cruel tyrant." Antonov remarked, "I believe such behavior is unacceptable for any responsible politician, let alone the president of a country. The verbal rudeness and attempts to assert oneself at the expense of our president's image reflect Washington's anger that Russia, in American terms, challenges the 'rules-based international order.'"
The Russian ambassador asserted that "it is time for local ruling circles to accept the reality that we will continue to pursue an independent and sovereign policy that is based on national interests." Antonov emphasized that by launching attacks against President Putin, Biden "insults the entire Russian people, who demonstrate unwavering unity around their leader."
Previously, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Biden's responses in this manner indicate that he is "better" for the Russian Federation as President of the United States than former Republican President Donald Trump. The Russian leader characterized Biden's attacks as mere affirmation that Russia is heading in the right direction. Additionally, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that such statements from Biden only insult the United States itself and represent a "great shame" upon it.
