The Prime Minister of India's capital, New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, has returned to prison after the end of his temporary bail period, as announced by the Press Trust of India. Before his return to prison, Kejriwal prayed at a temple dedicated to the god Hanuman in central Delhi and met with his colleagues and party members, according to the agency.
It is noteworthy that on May 10, the court ordered Kejriwal's release on bail and allowed him to participate in the election campaign. When the final phase of voting in India’s general elections took place, the court ordered his return to prison by June 2. On March 21, officials from the Economic Offences Wing of the Indian Ministry of Finance detained Kejriwal on suspicion of corruption. Investigators believe that the capital's Chief Minister was involved in an illegal scheme to sell liquor licenses in Delhi, which Kejriwal denies, deeming all the charges politically motivated.
